When we started the Fox Valley Brain Tumor Coalition in 2001, I had no idea how successful this group would become. With the support and generosity of the community, we have raised nearly one million dollars over the last 15 years to assist brain tumor patients in the Fox Valley. With the increased challenges most non-profits face, it is amazing what this group has accomplished.

It is now with mixed emotions that I inform you of my decision to retire from the role of president of the FVBTC.  The board members met to discuss this transition, and we found it has been/will be difficult to find a successor who can provide the unique needs this group requires to continue. We have therefore made the decision to dissolve the group over the next two years. We would like to share with you our timeline.

To begin, we will no longer hold the annual Journey of Hope. We will continue to provide financial assistance to the brain tumor community as we have funds available. Based on previous years, we believe we have enough funds at this time to continue providing assistance for the next 1-2 years. We will continue to accept donations from memorials and outside fund raisers for the time being. We will continue the support group meetings and social media at this time. Scholarships will continue this year. Once the funds have been depleted, we will close our books and end our services.

Please know this has been a difficult decision, but after much prayer and discussion, it is the right one. I thank you all for your support over the last 18 years, and thank you for your consideration during this transition. We have done wonderful things for the community together. I am truly honored.
